Back to Eden-Building A Life Saving Refuge
Donation protected
Having relocated to Portugal, from London with the intention of building an organic and sustainable farm & holistic retreat venue, Chantal’s intention was to share her passion for vegan food and sustainable living in a way that could help and empower others.
However, she soon realised that it wasn’t only the human population that needed help, it was the ever-growing stray and neglected animal population that, without her help, are suffering, hungry and in many cases left for dead.
What began as an act of love and kindness, with adopting a local, ticks-ridden stray called Marley, has now grown to a full-time, one-woman passion project to rescue as many dogs as she can.
So far, this runs to a total of 20 dogs that have now been rescued by Chantal and her husband, Kyle. Of these 20; 11 have been successfully rehomed and ALL have been lovingly cleaned up, chipped and neutered.
Chantal’s deepest wish is to be able to continue helping these amazing beings and one day open a proper sanctuary to give them a safe home before they are rehomed (if they are rehomed). It takes time and money to make this effort become a reality, but she started and needs help!
Aside from the practical part of this project, the educational part of the program is aimed at creating a blueprint that anyone can use in any country, where more animal welfare education is needed too. This will be made possible by wonderful animals-loving humans coming together in the form of a board of advisors
The purpose of this GoFundMe request is to raise money to get food, vet bills and any expenses for the set up of the association up and running. The funds will go towards:
-Setting up an official charity (we are currently figuring out how to do that with a lawyer)
- Fencing and dividing the current land to make it ‘escape’ and ‘entry’ proof. To stop our rescue dogs from wandering off but to also prevent any predators from entering. Eventually procuring land that can be purpose
- Simple accommodation to house volunteers
- Food
- Medication
- Veterinary Care Fees
- Education and sharing pet ownership information nationally
Should this project speak to the animal lover in you, we’d be so grateful to receive any donation that you can afford and / or if you’re interested in volunteering at Back to Eden, please do get in touch with Chantal. We currently already have some glamping spaces to host some until we build in a bigger sight , as we develop the project.
With love and thanks
