Backing a Veteran's Political Journey

State Senator L. Louise Lucas, D-Portsmouth, chatted with me during the Democratic Party of Virgnia State Convention in Richmond. I hope to join her in Chicago with the rest of the state's delegation. Thank you for your support.

Hi friends!

I am thrilled to share that I have been elected by Democrats in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District to

serve as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. There, I will proudly vote to

nominate Joe Biden as our Democratic nominee and help adopt the party’s platform.

Attending the convention comes with significant costs, and like many delegates, I am seeking your

support to make this journey possible.

A Bit About Me: I am retired from the newspaper industry and a disabled veteran. For over a decade,

especially since retirement, I have dedicated myself to democratic politics in my community. I have

served as chair of my local committee and am currently part of our voter registration team. I register

voters at the local food bank, where I also volunteer and assist the team in various areas.

In 2012, President Barack Obama’s campaign gave me the opportunity to manage canvassing efforts in

most of the city of Danville. I have undertaken similar efforts for Democratic candidates at the national,

state, and local levels.

I also served as a Congressional Intern for Former Congressman Tom Perriello, helping constituents work

with staff to solve problems, ranging from Social Security benefits to veterans' aid and other constituent

services.

Each of these opportunities has profoundly impacted my life, and I am deeply grateful for the support I

received through challenging times in my personal life.

Why This Matters: Serving as a delegate is a dream come true. This will be one of the major events in

my life, allowing me to support President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in a significant

way. Your help in offsetting the cost of attending the convention in Chicago would mean the world to

me.
