October update,
For those of you following our story- thank you! For those just joining you can read more below.
As of today (October 1) my dads care team believes they have found the source of his illness and it is terminal. This means that he is scheduled tomorrow morning to have a PICC line inserted. For those of you that are unfamiliar, a PICC line gives your doctor access to the large central veins near the heart and can help avoid the pain of frequent needle sticks and reduce the risk of irritation to the smaller veins in your arms.
A PICC line requires careful care and monitoring for complications, including infection and blood clots. This line will give him access to medications he needs easier and the goal is to get his medications at home. Due to the severity of his health issues and his recent diagnosis We are now re allocating all our focus and funds on getting him home with all the equipment and care he will need. We are desperately trying to arrange construction on his home so his family can move in to provide around the clock care, an adjustable bed to alleviate him sleeping in a recliner, oxygen tanks, etc. If you have made it reading this far - thank you! If you are able to help or know anyone who is willing to donate to his cause, donate their time, or expertise, or even simple praying and sharing our story we are so beyond thankful.
We just want to surround him in love and support and offer him the dignity and comfort of his own home
Calling all warriors,
Our prayer warriors, our love warriors, our action taking.. soul healing warriors.
My family and I are calling on all the warriors that we can get in our corner. My dad has been in the ICU for two months now. I won't burden you will all the details unless requested -- But rapid response was called due to continuous AFIB, sepsis, failing lungs, infected liver and kidneys and more... Every intervention that was available was used.
My father is a fighter though. We are hoping that we will be able to take him home eventually, and one day this will be just another memory that we can close the chapter on. In the mean, we are hoping to rally behind him with love and support.
My father works construction, which is very physically demanding. It will be a long time until he is able to return to work in any capacity. Let alone as the sole employee of his own construction company. We are hoping we can take the burden off of him when it comes to medical bills, mortgage, essential bills, etc. It would mean the world to him and to us if he could rest and heal without the stress of finances and losing his home.
If you know my dad -- you know that he is the last person to ask for help, and the first person to give it. He will show up day or night and give you literally his last dollar (I've seen it happen) and ask for nothing in return. He has raised four kids as a single dad. He is the BEST grandpa I have ever seen, he truly cares for others— he donates his time and money consistently. He volunteers whenever he can, and he is a pillar to our family and our community.
Anything you are able to do is so greatly appreciated! (prayers, donations, help with upkeep on the home, or simply sharing his story). I am always free for questions or proof of documents as well.
