Backpacks for Homeless (Eagle Scout Project)

My name is Basil Nowling and I am 17. I am a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 350 in Brighton, Michigan. I am working on my Eagle Scout Service Project and I need your help.

My Service Project is creating personal hygiene backpacks for people who are homeless.

I plan to lead a group of fellow scouts in creating, building and distributing 100 hygiene backpacks to patrons of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen's Shower Ministry in Detroit. Twice a week, the Capuchins offer shower service to homeless people in the City. These are people who do not have a place to shower and take care of their personal needs.

My Service Project will provide immediate help to people who don't have much. I need your help to complete this project. Personal hygiene items are often overlooked when people donate to help those less fortunate. I see a need to help fill this gap.

Each backpack costs about $20 to assemble and deliver. I am seeking donations to cover the costs and delivery of 100 backpacks. Can you help me by donating $20 or more? Me and my fellow scouts will construct the hygiene backpacks and deliver them to those in need.

I chose this project because I wanted to do something that was really needed in the community. Detroit has seen the number of people without a place to live increase a lot since the pandemic. My project will help those who need help most, which gives me and my fellow scouts the opportunity to make a difference now.

I hope you can help by donating $20, or more if you are able. Any amount will help. Every dollar I raise will go to this project, and if anything is left over it will be given directly to the Capuchin Shower Ministry.
