Bad things happen to good people. Please help

For those of you who know Daniel and Raylene Smith, you know how wonderful they are, and the events of the past 10 weeks have been heartbreaking.   This beautiful couple who had already been through the loss of a child and the struggle to have a family was facing the unthinkable.

10 weeks ago, Daniel who is only 33 years old was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasized to his liver.  This was a total shock to Daniel and Raylene and all who know them. How can this be happening?... During those darkest moments where Daniel was facing his own mortality, Raylene was not going to go there. She has the utmost faith in God, and she was not going to let him succumb to those fears. Her strength and faith gave him the strength to fight this. Daniel started chemo within a couple of weeks and was getting prepared to undergo surgery to remove hopefully the cancer from his colon and liver. He would then have more chemo.

On Dec 18th Raylene woke up not feeling well. She had just had two negative Covid tests, so she tried to dismiss that possibility. Over the next couple of days, she felt worse and started having difficulty breathing. Due to her asthma, she needed to go to the hospital where it was confirmed she had Covid-19.  The next 2.5 weeks should have been spent enjoying the holiday season, but it was Raylene fighting alone for her life from this awful virus.

On January 8, 2021, Raylene lost her fight at the age of 35, and we lost a woman who loved everyone, who didn’t know a stranger. She was always there for anyone in need. She never spoke ill of anyone and could always find the positive in all situations. She radiated love, and kindness on all that knew her. We do wonder if she knew she may not recover because she asked her family and close friends to please watch over and help her Daniel. That’s why we come to you.

Soon the hospital bills will be flowing in for both Daniel and Raylene and they will be extensive. There are Raylene’s funeral costs and soon huge monthly cobra insurance costs. You see, Raylene had all their insurance through her employer.  It will be best for him to stay on Cobra as long as possible vs. trying to sign up elsewhere for coverage.

Please help. No amount is too small.
