VOLUNTEERS:
Volunteer assistance to sort, organize, and load supplies through Friday, September 6th is greatly appreciated.
DELIVERY OF RELIEF TO THE BAHAMAS:
A flotilla of private vessels will begin delivery of relief supplies to Grand Bahama Island on Friday, September 6th and will continue through the weekend. We anticipate making several round-trip deliveries from the east coast of Florida. NOTE: ALL CREW SPOTS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR THE DELIVERY TRIPS.
Our effort to deliver relief supplies to Abaco will begin next week with confirmed details to follow.
Upon delivery of the collected supplies to Grand Bahama Island and Abaco, the relief effort will revert to voluntary and individual participation in larger coordinated efforts to rebuild. We encourage all of Southwest Florida to seek out opportunities to give of their time, talent, and treasure to help restore the beautiful Bahamas we all love so dearly.
ORIGINATOR OF THIS GOFUNDME ACCOUNT:
The originator of this account is Brent Stokes. His relationship with the islands and people of the Bahamas began over 20 years ago. His family has taken many fishing trips and vacations to Bahamas and made many life long friends with residents of the Bahamas over the years. Brent will be personally withdrawing the funds from this campaign and ensuring the funds are used properly.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE SPENT:
The funds will be spent on relief supplies including but not limited to generators, water, diapers, canned food, tents, cleaning supplies, tarps, gloves, etc. Funds will also be spent transporting these supplies to the Bahamas.
ORGANIZATIONS WE ARE COORDINATING WITH FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPLIES:
Rotary in Grand Bahama and Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue on Elbow Cay.
*******************************************************************************************************************
I am rounding up as many boats as possible that can load relief supplies and head to Bahamas as soon as the seas allow for a safe crossing. Please pass this to as many people you know with boats that have the fuel range to go over and back without having to fuel up in Bahamas. Also accepting donations at Stokes Marine (15955 Pine Ridge Rd. Fort Myers, FL 33908). How many of you can join this effort by making a trip with your boat, donating, lending your boat to someone who has the time to go, etc?
Bahamas is a special place to all of us and they need our help!
