Bahamas Hurricane Relief Funds

Donation protected

Hello Everyone,
Please Help Us * Fund Freeport & Abaco, Bahamas!

My home country of the Bahamas has been destroyed by Hurricane Dorian, a Category 5 (185 mph) hurricane that lasted 40 hours over Grand Bahama and Abaco.

The devastation, destruction and loss is massive, horrific, traumatic and unimaginable.

My name is Onesimus Strachan, I am an Accountant, Small Business Owner and former candidate for Phoenix City Council residing in Phoenix, Arizona.  I'm from the Bahamas, born and raised, and have joined forces with other countrymen and women to launch this fundraiser to provide emergency relief and restorative support to the victims of hurricane Dorian devastating destruction.

Please know the past few days have been a nightmare for all of us as we watched haplessly the horrific destruction of Abaco and Grand Bahama islands.  We struggled mightily, watching Abaco and Grand Bahama endure the forty hours of pummeling from hurricane Dorian.  The struggle was real and very heart wrenching as we watched folks fight to stay alive during this massive deadly storm.

For me, I have a sister residing in Freeport. She is a Principal at one of the Primary Schools and has taken in 8 of her teachers that has lost their homes to the storm.  Her love of children, people, community has always been her driving force in life and it is clearly demonstrated now as she is rallying to care for her family, neighbors, teachers, friends and community. She's cooking, feeding, comforting, providing for those folks and family as we speak. I'm sure her resources will run low soon so please support our fundraiser so we can bless her with more food, water, supplies and other necessities of life to help them get their bearing and grounding again.

My sister, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a host of extended people I call family living in Freeport, Grand Bahama, are safe, and we give all the glory to God.  Living out this period of time with hurricane Dorian is beyond describable.

Another of our team members have parents in Freeport she has not heard from as yet and other's on our team also have relatives and friends they have yet to reconnect with, so we pray for them all and ask you to continue praying with us.

Our team, Bahamas Strong, felt compel to act, therefore we have launched this GoFundMe account to help.   We hope you will join us in our efforts by donating $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can give.

Please open your hearts to give and share this campaign with your family, friends, network and groups.  We hope we can appeal to the hearts of a million people to give to assist our mission of providing life necessities and supplies to residents to ease the pain and suffering they are currently experiencing, and to give hope, healing and restoration to individuals, families and communities during this, their, greatest time of need.

Hurricane Dorian demolished these islands; it’s the worst I have ever seen but Bahamians are strong and the people of Grand Bahama and Abaco will rise from the ashes even stronger.

We will keep praying and now rebuilding from the ground up and your donations wIll help us do so.  For starters it will allow for the purchase of supplies these families are in desperate need of for basic survival, such as water, food, toiletries, diapers, baby formula, wipes, medical items, canned goods, can openers, mosquito spray, sunscreen, first-aid items, flashlights, batteries, and small generators.  We are also collecting and purchasing items that are needed for cleanup purposes and to begin rebuilding where allowable.  We have several volunteers donating boats, planes, and fuel to help transport items over once it is safe to travel.

This is an opportunity for us all to join together and help our neighbors rebuild their lives and we are counting on your support. Thank you in advance for your help.  Every little bit makes a huge difference!

If you have specific questions you can always reach out to us at [email redacted].
