Help Preston Fight Bone Cancer

Donation protected
Preston Bahr is an 11 year old boy who was recently diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare kind of bone cancer. Just a year ago, he was a normal little boy. He loved hanging out with his friends, playing sports and video games, and riding his dirt bike. Around 9 months ago, Preston started complaining about severe leg and hip pain. He would have "episodes" where the pain was so excruciating, that he couldn't walk or continue his normal routine. Preston's mom, Michelle, took him to the doctor multiple times. They  were told that Preston was just experiencing growing pains, and that PT was the best option. So, Preston did PT for two months and was then released.

A week out of PT, Preston had another episode. The pain was even worse than before and Michelle knew that this was more than just growing pains. After several phone calls, Preston was able to get an appointment in Des Moines. He then got an MRI. The MRI images clearly showed that something was wrong with the left side of his pelvis. The doctor wanted to do more testing, but Michelle had gotten a new job in Arizona. Preston and his family were moving soon, so the doctor referred him to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

After a week in Arizona, Michelle was able to schedule an appointment at PCH. Preston was seen by a rhuematologist, who immediately sent him for hospital admission to do further testing. After many days filled with MRI's, a bone biopsy, and waiting for results, the doctor called Michelle with bad news. Preston had been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Ewing Sarcoma is a rare kind of bone cancer that attacks the bones and soft tissues. It usually starts in the femur or pelvis, and then spreads to other bones/vital organs such as the lungs.

Preston will continue testing in Phoenix to see what stage of cancer it is, and if the cancer has spread. He will start treatment next week. This will include chemotherapy, radiation, and possible surgeries/reconstruction. Medical bills, lodging, and travel costs will be very expensive, as the family lives four hours away from Phoenix.  Preston and his family would greatly appreciate any donations and prayers.

Hannah, Preston's sister, is also designing and selling T-shirts/bracelets to help cover some of the costs. Again, any prayers and donations for the family would be more than helpful. Thank you and God bless.
