Bright young computer tech defends against robbery

Colin was vacationing in Ocean City MD.  he is only 21 and has a permit to carry.  he thought his permit to carry was good in any state.  4 thugs pushed their way into his hotel room and robbed him and his friends.  he went to his car to try to prevent them from taking it and when they tried to overpower him, he shot one.  he didn't run away. he waited for the police and he handed over his gun.  now he is in jail waiting on a bail hearing and arraignment for discharging his weapon.  what was he supposed to do against 4 thugs.  stand there and take it?  please help him to get justice and not be used as an example in these troubling times.  he was the innocent here.
