Colorado Springs Freedom Fund: Bail for Protestors
Donation protected
As protests and riots are breaking out across multiple cities in the US in protest to the death of George Floyd (among many others) it is an extremely important time to be donating money to those who risk arrest in order to protest and demand change.
On Saturday, May 30th, peaceful protests were led in Colorado Springs. The protest unfortunately resulted later in 24 arrests.
Rioter's and protestor's bail can amount to more that $10,000 per person.
It is extremely important to be aware that the white moderate who will challenge rioters, asking "Why riot?" are an active force of complacency.
We are talking about the Black Lives Matter movement. We are talking about a group of individuals who built America for free. We are talking about a group of individuals who have been met with violence and hardship their entire lives- and now the white moderate will turn their nose and scowl at rioting. They will contribute to systems of oppression by remaining silent, and demand peace from individuals met only with violence.
While the goal of the protest organized in Colorado Springs was peaceful, I feel responsible to deliver the following:
Rioting and looting is a legitimate and profound form of protest against a system that values goods and services over human life.
Please consider donating to the individuals who cannot meet their bail charges; the individuals fighting for a much needed and delayed change.
WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT OUR CHANGE!
EDIT: I am in direct communication with the El Paso County Jail and sheriffs department. I have also reached out to BLM Denver to see if anybody from their organization would be willing to collaborate with me on this.
I am still waiting to hear back.
