Bailey Family Fire Relief Fund - Camarillo, CA

Hello!
My name is Meghan Woodbury and I am a neighbor of Jim, Lili and Dale Bailey, whose garage, 3 cars and home were severely damaged by a fire on Sunday, March 19th. The fire broke out in their garage eventually exploding a nearby gas line and destroying the entire structure of the garage, both cars in it while also melting the engine of the third car in the driveway. The explosion was heard by neighbors as far as 3/4 mile away. The water, smoke and structural damage to the house is significant and it could be a total loss. They have lived in the house since 1987!
Luckily, Jim, Lili and their adult son Dale, with special needs, made it out unharmed. They are cat lovers and unfortunately, one Calico cat has run away and the other one, found in the attic, needed medical intervention with oxygen. Needless to say, Jim, Lilly and their son are quite shaken and have lost the ability to enter back into the house for any medications, clothes, pictures, cat supplies, or other critical needs. The house has been red-tagged, meaning a “red” tag shall mean the structural building is unsafe and shall be evacuated immediately. Access to red-tagged buildings shall be restricted to persons authorized by the department to enter.
Besides financial needs, immediate requests are:
- bottles of apple cider vinegar
- couple pair of men's socks (Dale and Jim are both size 9)
- ink pens
- boxes of Arm n Hammer baking soda to help absorb the smoke smell on clothes
- restaurant or VONS gift cards (if you would rather donate $ that way)
This is all very new, so the fundraiser may evolve as their needs become clearer. I'll certainly update as I learn more, but one thing I do know is that it will take some time for the insurance company to sort this all out and our neighbors are left paying for a hotel and car rental and need our help. To that end, I wanted to start getting this in front of as many faces as possible as quickly as possible and I hope you can help.
I am calling on our community of loved ones & strangers to please come together to show support for the Baileys financially, with resources, stories of hope and lots of love and support.
If you have recommendations for organizations/churches that can help with housing, goods, clothing, cat supplies- please send them our way. A drop-off address can be given, please contact me. They are grateful for any amount or supplies you are able to donate! Please pass along!
Thank you in advance for your help!
