Hello, I am reaching out for a couple of reasons, one being motorcycle awareness and secondly for a man and his family who could really use some help as they were impacted heavily by the topic stated above. On June 9th 2022 Bailey Glasener and his family, friends, and loved ones experienced the unimaginable. On June 9th Bailey was out riding his motorcycle as this was a form of therapy for him to just clear his head and get some alone time. He made a stop at 109 Auto Sales to say “hello” to his mom and friends right before we were closing at 5:30PM. He left and his therapeutic motorcycle ride quickly turned into a near fatal accident at the light on 109 and Kirby Road, at no fault of his. He was carried by ambulance to TriStar Portland Hospital, where he was immediately life-flighted to Skyline Hospital in critical condition. During his transporting, he coded 1 time and was revived, that proves this man has a purpose! As soon as he arrived at Skyline, he coded 4 more times and was revived, they rushed him into surgery, and he received 28 liters of blood to save his life. Once they were able to stabilize him, they began assessing his list of injuries. His injuries included a fractured vertebrae in his neck, a fractured scapula, most of his ribs were fractured, broken bones in the top and bottom of his left arm, and the bottom bones on the right arm and both protruding, severed nerves in the right arm, his upper jaw was broken and wired shut, and a collapsed lung that required a chest tube. Bailey also had his spleen removed due to it being severed as well as his appendix. His ACL, meniscus, and all nerves and tendons were either repaired or replaced in his right leg. Bailey then had a trach put in for a month to help him breath. He was thankfully doing well and had some movement in his arms and legs, however 2 weeks into his hospital stay he had a stroke that completely took away the little movement he had gained. Bailey was in the hospital for almost 3 months. He was able to come home for 10 days, only to return to the hospital for an infection, where his spleen had been removed. He was able to come home again but this time with a drainage tube in his side. He is now in the process of relearning daily living skills, such as feeding himself, and walking etc. Bailey is now home and is making progress in his recovery, but cannot bare weight on his arms at all, meaning he has very little movement to them. Bailey will not be able to work for at least 12-18 months. Bailey has made great progress but unfortunately still has a long road of recovery to go including 3+ doctor appointments a week, not to mention the physical therapy appointments he will have to attend. Co-pays, 10+ medications, medical equipment, household needs to better assist him, and everyday bills of a normal person that don’t stop coming that have to be paid out of pocket. I am reaching out for not only motorcycle awareness, but also to at least try to help a wonderful friend and his loving family. Bailey and his family are the type of people who would go without, help anyone they could, and put others before themselves. Let’s help this 27-year-old and his family as they have been through so much trauma and could really use some help at this time. I know Bailey and his family would do the same for another family who might be in the same or similar situation. For those who don’t know this family, just know that to know them is to love them! There is no type of obligation and even prayers are appreciated, anything helps! If you wish to donate or even say a prayer, please know Bailey and his family are so very appreciative!!
