Bailey stay at Howard

Hi, my name is Bailey Barnett. I am a second-year Nursing major from Houston, Texas. I've been heavily involved in multiple organizations on campus and have worked to maintain my scholarship with a 3.91 GPA, placing me on the Dean's List for the last two years.

Unfortunately, this semester I have not been able to fully cover the costs of my tuition here at Howard University. I have a $5,000 balance on my school bill which is causing a hold on my account. I have not been able to register for nursing classes or housing for the Fall of 2023. I just recently pass my TEAS exam for the Nursing program and look forward to beginning clinical this upcoming school year.

I currently mentor children in local DC schools because I am passionate about uplifting the youth and providing them with new opportunities to learn new skills that will benefit them in the future. Although my experiences are difficult to navigate through right now, my experiences push me to create change in places I have been once before. This is why I aspire after becoming a nurse to create merit-based scholarships to help the same students that experience what I experience today.

Throughout my matriculation of college here at Howard I have been blessed with so many fulfilling opportunities such as being able to participate in Howard Univeristies Alternative Spring Break. Experiences like these allow me to serve the people around me which further clarifies my purpose here at Howard. I have accomplished many things while being at Howard like becoming Jewels, Incorporated community service co-chair and I wish to continue my service here at Howard University as I finish my undergraduate studies.
