Bailey's Tale
Donation protected
On 5/3/20 one year old beagle Bailey from Livingston, West Lothian was on his regular afternoon walk when he was spooked and ran off. So began a long and harrowing 24 hours for him and his family.
Bailey was finally returned to his owner Emma yesterday afternoon. Tragically though he had been hit by a car. A quick response meant Bailey was treated at a local vet within minutes.
Bailey's injuries are critical but he's a fighter and has been described as surprisingly stable and upbeat considering everything he has gone through.
Bailey has health insurance but the family have been advised that due to the extent of his injuries and the procedures required the full cost of this won't be covered. They've been given a cost at this stage of up to £6k.
Emma and her family have been completely overwhelmed by the extraordinary support and acts of kindness from her local community. She wishes to thank everyone for their generosity and unconditional help during the search for her beloved pooch.
Thank you so much for all of your support and for helping to Bailey on his long road to recovery.
UPDATE 9/3/20 Bailey underwent emergency surgery yesterday. He is in ICU. Thank you all for your ongoing support, generosity and kind words....we are truly overwhelmed and humbled.
UPDATE 17/3/20 The biggest, most gigantic thank you to all who have donated and sent healing to Bailey over the past 11 days. He has a long road ahead of him but thanks to your unbelievable kindness and generosity Emma is now able to give Bailey the physical and psychological rehabilitation that he needs after the trauma he has experienced. Bailey is currently being cared for at home in Edinburgh and being is closely monitored by specialists. He will have further follow up at the Royal Dick Hospital in the next few weeks. On behalf of Bailey and his family a huge thank you - you will never truly know the difference you have made.
