Bailey's Battle with Meningitis

Donation protected
On Thursday 16th March 2017, I awoke to find my much adored 4 year old miniature dachshund Bailey was not quite his usual cheeky self. Refusing to eat and no longer showing an interest in anything, I just knew something was seriously wrong.

Four visits to my local veterinary practise (a lot of weight lost, vomiting and a lack of co-ordination) later my little boy's body was being ravaged by an illness that no one could diagnose.

At this point there was nothing more my vet could do but refer Bailey as a matter of emergency (as his condition was quickly deteriorating) to a specialist veterinary practise 2 hours away on that same day.
With concern growing by the minute, I hoped the further tests I consented to (bloods, neurological examination, MRI scan, spinal tap) would prove fruitful in telling us what might be wrong. It was only on the final test that the consultant neurologist was able to confirm a clear diagnosis.

We now know that Bailey has a long battle ahead of him fighting Meningitis. Recovery can often take up to six months and some dogs don't recover fully/at all.

With the support of my family, I am now doing everything I can to ensure Bailey gets the best care possible, but unfortunately this has all come at a great (unplanned for) financial cost.

Please help me to help Bailey have a fighting chance to beat Meningitis and recover as fully as possible.

Every £1, like or share could make all the difference towards Bailey’s future!

Thank You.
