Elliott’s Journey

When Michael and Miranda found out in September they were expecting a new bundle of joy, they weren’t expecting what was to come. She was due May 5th. Baby boy had other plans. Miranda’s water broke in early December. She had what was called PPROM ( Pre- Term Premature Rupture Of Membranes) The night before Christmas Eve her dr informed her she would have to get admitted for the remainder of her pregnancy so she could be constantly monitored. So January 13th she was admitted in hopes that she could make it to at least 34 weeks. Elliott decided it was time to make his appearance at 27 weeks and 3 days. The night of February 6th his heart rate kept dropping which really concerned the drs. So Miranda was rushed into an emergency C-section. Elliot Luis was born February 6th at 11:48 pm. He was 1 pound 8 oz and 13.5 inches long. He struggled pretty hard the first couple weeks. On ventilators, feeding tube, and Cpap constantly. As of right now he has PDA causing blood to go into his lungs. He will have an echocardiogram follow up on Friday and a follow up brain ultrasound on the 15th. He has a long road ahead of him. From December when this all began, the dr had told Miranda the chances of Elliott surviving would be very slim. He is a fighter! Mom and Dad are doing the best they can with going to see him everyday at the NICU plus making time for the older boys that are at home. Michael has had to take off work to be there for Miranda and the boys. I know they would be very grateful for any help they are given while going through this tough time. We could all use all the positive thoughts and prayers as Elliott progresses. I will update his journey on here as we get the updates. Thank you.
4/10/21 UPDATE: Baby Elliott is doing really good. He is now up to 4 lbs 9 oz. They took the cpap off of him today. He’s breathing on his own doing pretty good. Hopefully in the next couple days mama can finally breastfeed him. Once he is nursing good and still gaining weight he will get to come home. We are all so blessed and thankful for all the prayers. I will keep you updated as we go along.
