Ball Family fire relief fund
Donation protected
This is a relief fund for my family. My Dad Kim Ball, my stepmom Cindy, my younger brother Blake, and myself have lost everything. Our houses are gone, our vehicles, and I am thanking God my younger brother escaped with the dogs when he did.
My dad would never do this. He’d never set this up. Kim has been an assistant wrestling coach at Lahainaluna High School for the past 40 years. He started up a wrestling club in the heart of Napili called the Napili Surfriders. This has been a place for the kids to participate who may not have a ride to get to the Lahaina wrestling club. The name is inspired by my dad’s business Hi-Tech Surf Sports. Hi-Tech has had a huge impact on the community with Keiki surf contests, Ole Longboard classic, skate contests, windsurf races, and Larry Libre’s annual Fishing and Diving tournament. They have also been a champion for surfing as a school sport and sponsor many young surf groms over the years. He is far too humble and modest to ask for help. But when he lost everything, even my dad was speechless and in shock. Thank you for any assistance you may provide.
The day after the fire, I hiked 3 miles in the day after and stood in the ashes of my home and saw my melted truck. It was a somber moment. There was nothing left, my truck melted, no scrap salvageable. When I reached the airport in Kapalua to call my dad to tell him. He was in line at Ma’alaea trying to drive into Lahaina. My dad’s voice was shock and he told me he was going to work. He wanted something to do to process. My brother and I were able to meet up, we helped with food drives, before heading for family in Kihei. Police were routing everyone towards the bypass. We are safe.
We are alive, thanking God for that much. If you can donate? Great! Even a few dollars is more than what we had before. If you can’t then just your words of support are appreciated. Take care of yourselves, Aloha and a hui hou!
