Ballymore Ladies Football Cycle to Leinster Final
On the 19th December 2020 the Ballymore Ladies team are getting out to cycle over 400km.
This is equivalent to a return journey of 400km to our opponent’s club grounds Kilmore, Wexford (Leinster Final).
You can join us that day with your virtual posts or drop into Granard to support our girls on their bikes(spin) outside Granard Credit Union on that day.
Ballymore Ladies team have captured the Longford Intermediate title this year. Since then our girls have represented Longford in the Leinster Junior Championship competition. They won both Leinster Championship games, which qualified them for the Leinster Junior Club Final. Due to Covid, this final is now scheduled to take place on Saturday January 16th, 2021.
These players have displayed amazing courage, effort and talent both on and off the field in these difficult times in the middle of a pandemic and they have brought a silver lining at a very dark and difficult time in our lives. We have all admired their hunger and skills over the last few months from our sitting rooms, now it’s our turn to do what we can to support them and in supporting them help bring a very special piece of silver back to Longford.
In the past, the ladies club would have held three fundraisers (a 5km run, breakfast morning and a Christmas Draw) during the year that assists with running our six club teams U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and Intermediate girls.
However, with the very short window and the Covid regulations, these were not possible this year. We are appealing for any donation, big or small, which you feel you might be able to contribute. We are very aware that this year has put a financial strain on many people. In fact, our own funds took a serious hit in supporting the girls to get to this stage.
We still need to provide this wonderful team with a Leinster Final day to remember, and to assist in the overheads involved in the provision of the continuous development of the underage teams within our club.
All the money raised will be used to ensure we can continue to support our girls and development squads now and into the future.
