Balram's wife Junu needs life-saving surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Balram and I joined Cardinal Newman in October 2020 to work in the school's Technical Support team helping students and staff wherever needed. My wife and daughter remain in Nepal until I can arrange and pay for a Visa for them to come and stay in the UK and we can be a family once again.
Just over a year ago, my wife Junu suffered a very severe stroke which left her hospitalised for several months. The surgery was difficult and expensive but the school's generosity was amazing - loaning me money from my future salary and granting me extended compassionate leave.
I am very pleased to say that the surgery was a success, Junu slowly recovered her strength, and just last month we were able to complete all the necessary paperwork and pay for the family's Visa !
Then a second disaster struck - a second stroke just as devastating as the first one which requires another session of complex surgery. There is no NHS in Nepal so once again my family is faced with raising money beyond our means to provide Junu with the life-saving procedures she needs. The surgery and medical care is expected to cost between £8,000-£10,000.
My family, friends and ex-colleagues are fund-raising as much as they can but I was hoping that the Newman Community would also be able to help by contributing to this huge sum.
I appreciate that you will not have heard of me, my wife or my daughter but any donation - however small - would be a step in the right direction and would be SO gratefully received.
A month ago, our future was looking wonderful.
Please help us to get our dream back on track.
