Bamboo Bike Expedition - Pedaling 669 kms for a Greener Futu
Donation protected
The Bamboo Bike Expedition is an ambitious 14-day journey covering 699 KMs from Uganda's Eastern border to the Southwestern border, designed to promote sustainability and eco-consciousness. Our mission is to raise awareness about climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable living practices by combining adventure with advocacy.
Purpose of the Expedition
The Bamboo Bike Expedition is more than just a journey; it’s a platform for advocacy and education. We aim to:
1. Promote Climate Action: Raise awareness about the urgent need to combat climate change and preserve our natural resources.
2. Showcase Bamboo as a Renewable Resource: Highlight the versatility of bamboo, a sustainable material, through the use of bamboo bike frames.
3. Empower Communities: Engage with local organizations, schools, and community leaders, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.
4. Promote Solar Energy Solutions: The bike will be equipped with solar panels to showcase the potential of renewable energy in transportation.
5. Support Solar Punk Ideology: Advocate for a future where humanity coexists harmoniously with nature, integrating sustainable technologies for the benefit of all.
Why We Need Your Support
We still need to spread the word about climate change and sustainability to more youths.
The Bamboo Bike is already in existence, thanks to our partners at Bamboo Bikes Uganda and other supporters. Now, we need your help to make this expedition a platform for sustainability education and climate awareness.
All funds raised through this expedition will go to Comrades to Youths Africa, an organization I founded, dedicated to equipping students with knowledge on leadership, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation, and sustainability. Your support will help us reach more students in schools across Uganda, spreading vital messages about the importance of protecting our planet and adopting sustainable practices.
Our Goal
We aim to raise USD $3,495 to support our mission of reaching 8 schools within a year through sustainability education.
I will be riding 699 Kms during the Bamboo Bike Expedition, with the goal of raising $5 per Km, bringing the total to $3,495 (rounded up to 5000 CAD).
Here’s a breakdown of how your contributions will be used:
In an academic year, we visit each school for 9 months.
The cost of visiting a school for 1 month is $45, meaning 9 months costs $405 per school.
A total of $3,240 will enable us to reach 8 schools and teach students about sustainability and environmental conservation.
$255 will be allocated to planting 314 fruit trees in these 8 schools.
Donor Recognition
We are committed to keeping our donors and supporters engaged throughout the journey. As a token of appreciation, we will:
Share regular updates and videos during the expedition.
Offer special shoutouts to major donors and partners on social media.
Provide opportunities for corporate sponsors to get involved, including branded materials and promotion during the ride.
Join Us
We invite you to be a part of this exciting expedition by donating and sharing our campaign with your network. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to a greener, more sustainable future.
Together, let’s pedal towards positive change!
