$50,000 NEEDED FOR ECOLOGIST & PROJECT COORDINATOR
Bangalow Koalas is a grass-roots, high-impact environmental not-for-profit creating real results. Our mission is to restore native habitat for koalas and other endangered species in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales in the form of a wildlife corridor. We’re on track to plant 500,000 trees by 2025 but we need your help. We are looking to secure funding for an ecologist and project coordinator, as the grants we secure do not include funding for these important roles.
Bangalow Koalas has planted over 360,000 trees benefiting koalas and other species, restoring habitat during such a critical time for our treasured koalas. We call them our ‘hope trees’. Hope for koalas and hope for all of us – especially our children – that real change is not only possible, but it is happening. The best bit…you can help!
The funding we are asking for will support two very important roles, contributing to the ongoing success of Bangalow Koalas. As the demand for what we do continues to grow, our Ecologist role is critical in helping us develop strategies for planting trees that will give koalas the best chance of survival. The role includes site visits to potential tree planting properties, mapping and monitoring the success of plantings, assisting in grant applications and reporting, compiling research data, writing DA submissions, and attending meetings on our behalf. The project coordinator assists the president with the everyday operations of the organisation. By assisting with the time-consuming but important administration work, our president can continue to foster important connections with existing and potential landholders and partners.
Our biggest hurdle to getting more trees in the ground is funding. Our plantings include maintenance for three years and for us to continue to thrive and keep up with demand we need to build the Bangalow Koalas team.
To learn more about what we do and to inspire hope, check out the below ABC news article celebrating our 250,000th tree planted and a Landline Bushfire Special episode which aired in 2021, showing us doing what we do best.
We would love for you to be a part of our journey, protecting koalas before it is too late. We need you!
