Banks Needs A New Knee
Donation protected
On January 18, Banks tore out of the house to go chase a squirrel out of the fairy forest in our backyard. He typically does this 22 times a day. On this day, he tore his CCL (doggie equivalent to a human ACL) on the way. My dad ran to him immediately, but the scream he made was absolutely terrifying. We went to the vet right away and I was told of his injury and our options. Surgery was a choice; another was a life of not moving too much. He is likely to do the same to his other leg if he doesn't get the surgery he needs as soon as possible. If you know me and the two dogs I call family, a life of not moving isn't an option.
We move a lot. Banks has always been a "mountain goat at heart". He runs, he climbs, he explores. I've never seen a dog enjoy a trail as much as this one. He's seen both coasts, played in waves as a puppy, climbed mountains, and trekked through deserts for flower photoshoots. To take that away from him this soon hurts too much.
I found Banks in an animal shelter in Santa Cruz when I was 19. He has been my partner ever since. He has seen me through my ups and downs, through heartbreak and more joy than I can remember. He is my best friend, my family, and I would do anything to keep him forever.
I need help. With my personal 2020 still wreaking havoc on my life, I do not have the funds to get this surgery for Banks on my own. Asking for help is hard, and truthfully I'm embarrassed. But I would do anything for my family. I would be so grateful for any amount of help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and helping my best friend.
