Banyan's BIG Chance
Donation protected
Before the age of 2 my son, Banyan, was already showing signs things were "off" developmentally. Since then, I’ve exhausted every resource and every option in order to provide him with what he needs to be successful in life. We’ve visited psychiatrists and psychologists. We’ve tried behavioral and sensory therapies. I’ve adjusted his diet, used homeopathic alternatives, and sought help from both a Behavior Specialist Consultant and Therapeutic Support Specialist. All in an attempt to help him manage his ADHD and ODD .
In late August, Banyan began pre-school...he’s already been suspended - twice! It’s obvious the traditional methods of helping children in Banyan’s situation are simply not effective. They are setting him up for an incredibly difficult and unfair road ahead, one that may rob him of achieving the great things I know he is capable of. Banyan is a sweet, bright and loving boy; there must be a better way to give him the tools he needs to become the best version of himself possible.
I believe the Brain Balance Program is a better way. It's a supplemental educational program working under the theory that problems like Banyan’s are caused by a functional disconnection between the right brain and left brain hemispheres. Through an intensive and fully personalized program, they can work with him to strengthen those deficiencies, thus treating the underlying problem behind his behavior –and doing so without subjecting him to a lifetime of ADHD medication, which addresses only the symptoms and not the root of the cause. The stories of other children who have enrolled in the program are compelling, to say the least. If Banyan’s story could be included among them, why would I not pursue such a future for my son?
That future, however, requires considerable time and expense. Tuition and traveling expenses will total more than $8,000. It seems a hefty cost, but not compared to the lifetime of possibilities that could be opened to him. Now is a perfect opportunity to address these issues, before he begins kindergarten next year. The timing is crucial and can potentially help him avoid spending his school career being "punished" for something that could have been corrected and was never his fault.
This is “Banyan’s Big Chance,” but as a single mother of two toddlers, I need help giving him that chance. I’m turning to my friends and family, for your support and generosity to help make this possible. I believe in Banyan, and I know if given the chance, he is capable of great things. If you would like to contribute to our cause and help change the life of one amazing little boy, we will both be forever grateful.
With love,
Ker’en and Banyan
