Barb & Ryan's Emergency Home Repairs
I am asking for help with recent unexpected costs to our home. The outside of our 1954 rambler-style house has deteriorated, causing cracks, leaking, mold, and rat tunnels. With summer comes storms and Ryan and I are trying to save our home from all of the rain ahead. The rain water rushes into our basement to the extent of having mushrooms grow. The ground around the foundation of our house has collapsed. I need to re-level the ground and provide a way for the water to run away from the house. I have been using tarps for years to try and stop the water but the tarps are a perfect house for critters to live in and dig tunnels, further eroding the soil.
To stop the rain and melting snow from leaking into our basement, I need to dig up the old soil, add 9 mm plastic, then new soil, level off, add river rock and pavers, and replace removed sod.
My children have stepped up to help with labor, but I have incurred debt due to the cost of materials.
We've had a rough couple of months dealing with so many changes in Ryan's life, the last thing we want to deal with is flooding and black mold.
If our loved ones could help by donating to the cost of materials, we would really appreciate it.
Materials I have purchased:
River Rock
Edging and edging spikes
9 mm plastic for 3 sides of the house
Soil conditioner
Dirt
Sod and sod pins
Tarps
Gloves
Masks
Hats
Buckets
Leveling Sand
Paver stones
Wheelbarrow
Love, Barb and RyanMy adult kids removed the vegetation from the back section of Ryan and my house where rain water was flooding in. I purchased materials to replace the rotting soil.
I have had to use tarps for years to prevent rain water from flooding my basement. The tarps get so wet, I fell and broke my ankle.
Some of the paver stones I purchased to put around the river rock to stop leaks.
