Barbara Anne Dwyer - Rest In Peace

On October 29th, Barbara’s life was tragically cut short in a hit and run accident while she was walking to work. We her sons; Tim, Alex and Sean are faced with her funeral costs, unknown medical bills, potential legal costs and the costs of wrapping up her affairs. In response to the overwhelming show of support by our friends, family and community, we have set up this campaign for anyone willing or able to help us pay for these expenses.
Thank you for your love and support in this difficult time,
Tim, Alex and Sean.
Whether you can contribute financially or not but have memories of Barbara that you’d like to share, please email them to us at: BabzyDwyerMemories (at) (gmail) (dot) com

MILLCREEK — Police are searching for a driver who left the scene after hitting and killing a woman Friday morning in Millcreek.
The woman who died was identified Friday as 66-year-old Barbara Anne Dwyer, of Millcreek, according to Unified police.
About 7 a.m., Dwyer was crossing in the crosswalk at Highland Drive and Luck Lane (3440 South) when she was hit by a vehicle, Unified police said.
Dwyer was initially hospitalized with critical injuries, but later died from her injuries, police said. Police initially said she was 64, but later clarified that she was 66.
Police are working to identify the vehicle and driver. Police say two vehicles drove through the intersection "seconds after she was hit," and investigators believe people in those vehicles witnessed the crash. Police have not released a description of the vehicle that hit Dwyer.
Those who saw the crash are asked to contact Unified police at 8018404000 and reference case 21-134792.

Barbara Anne Dwyer (nee Devine) was born in New York on August 7, 1955 and moved to Los Angeles as an elementary school student. With her siblings—Sue, Steve, and Cari—Barbara settled in on the Westside of L.A. and though she felt self-conscious about her thick New York accent, she began cautiously and curiously to explore the world.
Chris Dwyer, her fifth grade classmate at St. Paul’s the Apostle School, rather quickly became the love of Barbara’s life. After graduating St. Monica’s high school, she and Chris left their families in Los Angeles and moved to the ski resort Brian Head, Utah in the 1970s in pursuit of powder days and fall colors, parties and peace, adventure and solitude. She married Chris on Brian Head Peak and they had three boys—Tim, Alex and Sean.
Barbara’s life as a mother was one filled with skiing, soccer, and music—of enjoying the outdoors and travel, of friends and family and dogs. Even after her kids grew up, these interests stayed with her, but above all else, she liked being around and cared deeply about other people. Her work life took her through real estate and property management in Southern Utah but her heart was always in medicine, where she could work to help others heal. After moving back to Southern California in 2010, she coordinated care for patients at UCLA's Center for Alzheimer's Research in Westwood until she stepped down to take care of herself as her life took a challenging turn before Chris passed away in 2020.
She moved to Salt Lake City in March of 2021 to be close to her son Tim and the natural beauty of Utah she had fallen in love with so many years ago. After the most challenging period of her life, she had been able to reconnect with the great many people who loved her in August of 2021 at Chris’s celebration of life in the town she spent over half her life: Brian Head. She felt rejuvenated by those conversations and her recovery accelerated. She’d recently found a job and was walking to work on the morning of Friday, October 29, 2021 when she was struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident in Salt Lake’s Millcreek neighborhood not far from where she lived.
Barbara—or Babz as her children often called her—will be sorely missed.
