My name is Holley, and it’s with a very heavy heart that I am writing this. I never thought this day would actually come, but it has. My dearest and closest friend, Barbara, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 24th. She was found in her bed, after going to sleep, with her most faithful dog, Teddy, by her side. She is in a better place now, but none of us were prepared for this. How can you prepare for something like this? Her family is absolutely devastated. The unexpectedness and pain has had everyone in a perpetual state of shock for the last several days. Barbara never met anyone she didn’t love. And if you knew her… if you truly knew her…I’d say you were pretty lucky. She was the most giving, caring, nurturing and forgiving person you could ever hope to meet. Throughout her life, she faced so much trauma and more hardships than most of us could ever endure. Yet, here she was… 55 years old, and still giving her heart to everyone with everything she had left. Her three boys and her grandchildren were her life. She loved them with a wholeness and fierceness that death will never erase. Barbara did not have life insurance or any savings account. Unfortunately, no one was prepared for the expenses that death brings. And no one should have to choose between taking care of their family or honoring their mother. I know that she would tell us not to spend any money on her. She’d probably tell us to just dump her in the ocean and let it take her away. But that’s not going to work for someone so special; for someone that we all loved so very much. She deserves to be remembered and her family and friends deserve to be able to say good-bye to her. I am asking that if you knew Barbara, or her children, or myself …and you are able to donate anything towards her cremation and memorial/celebration of life, please do so. She would’ve been 56 on March 14th, so we would like to plan a celebration of life for her on the 16th. Contact myself or her sons for more information on that. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if this is the first you are hearing about this, I am so sorry. She is now finally resting and without any pain. Thank you for your giving hearts and may you be blessed as you remember her.
