Barbara McArthur Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Our friend Barb was diagnosed with cancer back in July of 2019 and she is trying to recoup some lost wages and cover some other medical costs. We've set up this fund to reach out to our loving community of family and friends to help support Barb in her time of need. We realize that this is a difficult time for everyone, but any help is appreciated.
Barb’s Battle
Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Barb McArthur and I am a health care provider. I worked in long term care as a Health Care Aide for 34 years. I’ve enjoyed supporting our seniors with the best care that they deserve, providing dignity and respect to our most vulnerable population. My life was drastically disrupted in July of 2019 during a routine mammogram. They found a mass deep in my breast tissue which no self physical exam would have detected. I am grateful for being proactive in my physical health. The next steps were taken to proceed forward in my road to recovery. My family doctor recommended me to the cancer clinic and a general surgeon. August 2019-2nd mammogram was accompanied with an ultrasound and an MRI was ordered for October 2019. On December 18th 2019, I had my first surgery which was a lumpectomy to remove the mass. January 10th 2020, cancer was confirmed leading to a 2nd surgery to remove 5 lymph nodes on January 15th. It was discovered approximately 1 week later the cancer had spread. February 26 2020, I began my chemotherapy treatments, 6 weeks post surgery. After I complete chemotherapy, I’ll begin radiation and 5 years of chemotherapy pills to fight this terrible disease that has disrupted my life. My family and I would like to thank everyone for their help and continuous ongoing support.
Sincerely
Barb McArthur
