Barbara's Fight with Cancer Round 2
Donation protected
Hello to all our Family and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we have to make this post. After months of agonizing pain, a myriad of tests and a biopsy procedure, it has been determined that our Mom's Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer has returned after being in remission for 2.5 years. Unfortunately this time around it is a fast growing (aggressive) B-cell lymphoma, thus requiring a more aggressive treatment plan. She has been seen by a local oncologist as well as an oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. Due to Covid-19, our mom will be receiving treatments locally and will be traveling to MSK as needed. She will be starting chemotherapy treatment on Tuesday, November 17th. As of now, she will undergo 6-8 cycles of Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy treatment every 21 days.
Many have asked how they can help and we ask during this difficult time that you Pray for our Mom and our family. She has a long road ahead of her but is ready to fight this cancer every step of the way.
Anyone who knows our Mom knows she is the last person to ask for help but the first to offer it. We have decided to set up a GoFundMe page because we believe that it is crucial during our Mom's treatment that she have some financial stability when she cannot work as a RN. During our mom's fight against this nasty disease again, she will be incurring a number of expenses related to her treatment including medical costs not covered by insurance, visits to MSK in New York and other miscellaneous costs such as a wig/head covering and certain medications. All of this is to say how essential we believe it is that we remove worry about money so Mom can focus all of her energy on fighting this battle.
We know many people have experienced difficult times during this past year with Covid-19 and we realize that donating at this time may not be feasible for some. Any bit of help is beyond appreciated and will help our mom beat this disease again.
We remain optimistic and our mom is ready/determined to fight this cancer with everything she has. Your prayers and support mean the world to us all! We will continue to post updates throughout our Mom's course of treatment on her Caring Bridge Site - https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/barbaracassidy6
Love,
Devin, Shea, Bridget and Gerry
