Amputee, School Teacher Needs Help!

Donation protected

Barbara Orzel is a woman of strength and optimism. She has encountered and overcome many adversities in her life; the passing of her father at a young age, Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, difficult personal relationships, a detrimenal professional lay-off, and most recently multiple hospitalizations for broken bones from completely random, unavoidable accidents. Even through these life challenges there has been triumph. She has two playful, loving canine companions that are her children, and she has been living her dream of teaching 1st grade elementary school for the last 4 years.

Unfortunately, she has been met with yet another set-back. Her leg gave out and she fell suffering a serious injury to her ankle. While injured she became ill with the flu so severe pneumonia developed resulting in dangerous infection to her bone and ultimately leading to the amputation of her left foot.

She has made it farther than most would on positivity however, that mental strength does not pay bills. While in the hospital she recieved notice there is not any extended coverage for her medical leave and therefore will not be paid any montly salary until May 20th for summer vacation pay.

When she had broken bones before, she still made it to school (work) everyday even in a wheelchair. This situation is a new challenge which she works diligently daily researching ways to function around it.

All being said, she has worked so hard to get where she is and to stay there. She's always been so independent and head-strong, but sometimes you need a hand...

This is the first time she is in need of help.
We are looking for immediate assistance of monetary donations which will fund her bills of necessity (rent, electric, water). My name is Kayla Orzel and I am Barbara's step-daughter. I am able to provide her food, water, and care for her animals. Along side her family we are working daily to find other means of assistance, but it is becoming frustrating that every possible benefit will take months and even years to activate. Barb does not have that kind of time. EVERY donation helps! Please feel free to contact me via facebook or email at [email redacted] with any suggestions or questions. Thank you!

Together, we can add another success to Barbara's story of overcoming adversities.

"Sometimes you need to ask for help." -Barbara Orzel

Thank you for taking the time to read Barb's story. She and everyone in her life are forever grateful for your kindness! Let's get her back in the classroom next fall! Her students miss her dearly.

Thank you!
