Barbell Barkada

Hi everybody! I’m Kat Muraglia and I’m the founder of Barbell Barkada. Our goal as an organization is to create a network of women across the country who love powerlifting and consider themselves to be thriving and succeeding in a male-dominated career—STEM, business, finance, you name it, and match them with late high school and college-aged women who are interested in powerlifting and are on the cusp of deciding their career path. Mentors can be as involved as they are able—from coaching to mentoring to just being willing to connect with someone making a career choice over text, phone, or IG.

I’m going to level with everyone—the road to the Barkada becoming the wide-reaching organization I dream about is long, and not one I can walk alone. We have big plans in the works—mentor spotlights, career shadowing opportunities, resume workshops, women’s lifting seminars, group outings, meet sponsorships, and loads of informational content. Our goal someday is to provide scholarships to young women powerlifters pursuing their career dreams! We want to give back to our community in every way we can, but like all things in life, this does come with expenses that we need help covering. All funds go towards startup costs of the organization, legal fees, professional networking, our free-for-mentees coaching program, events, meet sponsorships (including best female lifter prize packages), and our ultimate goal, mentee scholarships. At present, we are working towards non-profit status, and your gift helps us continue our mission of empowering women both in the gym and in the workplace.
