Barb's Believers

On December 12, 2018 our mother lost her battle with Stage 4, non-small cell lung cancer.  After months of treatment and pain, she slipped away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and the incredible staff of The Kaplan House, a Hospice facility in Newburgh, NY.

As we begin to pick up the pieces, we are so grateful for the support that has been offered to our family during this time.

In early October when she was first diagnosed at Piedmont Medical Center, outside their home of Rock Hill, South Carolina, none of us were prepared for how aggressively the disease would progress. 
Mom quickly required a medical flight to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she could be closer to her daughters, Amanda and Katie, and to receive the best possible care. When it was determined that chemo or radiation would not be possible due to her weakened state and the progression of the cancer, Mom was transferred to White Plains Hospital before transitioning to The Kaplan House.

We're so grateful for the offers of assistance at this difficult time for our family.

Cancer treatment is incredibly expensive, even with insurance. At this point, our family is looking at tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills.

We want to do as much as we can to help Dad get these bills taken care of so he can concentrate on moving forward and staying healthy.

Anything you can give helps tremendously in easing Dad's financial burden and is greatly appreciated.
Any remaining funds will be donated to The Kaplan House so they can continue providing the care and comfort to families in the worst of times, as they have ours.
