Barn raising! for Amish 10 yr old w Osteosarcoma
Donation protected
Greetings!!! Get ready for an old fashioned barn raising!!!!! My name is Carrie Brogden of Machmer Hall farm. Our long time Amish barn builder , Martin Schmit, his family is in need of community support. His niece, Susanna Eicher, was nine years old when diagnosed and now 10 is battling Osteosarcoma. One of 13 children to her hard working and loving Amish parents, she was diagnosed last year with an aggressive form of cancer in her spine. She was unable to walk without extreme pain in her hip. She was at treated with chemotherapy at UK Children's hospital and now is back home. She is tough and strong, just like the rest of her extended family and she loves to bake cookies. She still has a kidney and bladder port and a feeding tube because another spot on her lungs was found but the port in her chest has now been removed. At the moment, her doctors are pleased with her progress but she has a 40-60% chance of recurrence. On Wednesday 12/20 at Machmer Hall farm in Paris, ky starting at 7:30 am approximately 40-60 Amish family members will BUILD a 56' by 56' structure at our farm as a fund raiser for this deserving family. All from the community are welcome and this should be a unique sight! The lumber companies have helped and all of the men helping to build the barn are volunteering their time. Our farm, Machmer Hall is paying the full price to put this structure up but we sure would love some community help. This Amish family is near and dear to our Bourbon County farms and they have built countless amazing buildings across the county. The photos are from an addition they are currently working on at our foaling barn. Please, please contribute to this little girl and her family. EVERY SINGLE penny goes to them and they have a medical bank account set up to help pay her exraordinary bills. The sense of love and hard work is paramount in the Amish community and along with the miracle of modern medicine, we sure hope Susanna's childhood cancer will be beat and never return. Every dollar counts and will go to her medical expenses and care. Don't believe us!? Come to the barn raising yourself! We would love to have you and let's kick some childhood cancer's butt ok! please donate !!!
