Help our rescue to support our wild hedgehogs

Before you read about us, can we explain the total £ at the top of the page. That amount shows what has been raised and used over the past 4 years, it IS NOT what is in the kitty. It is very misleading and we are unable to change this.

  Here at Barnacle Hedgehog Rescue our aim is to rehabilitate and release Hedgehogs. From baby’s to oldies we help them all. Getting the baby’s to their release weight and the adults back to health. We then release them back into the wild in the Midlands area. We need these funds to be able to Care and help the hogs including a hopsital. This will be kitted out for medical emergencies and have areas for the poorly hedgehogs to have heated cages, for a better chance of survival. It will also have the medical equipment required and requested by our vet.  By having the hospital kitted with the correct equipment, means less trips to the vets and that means less money to be paid out for vets bills. At the moment we have a great relationship with our vets, but still have to pay for consultations and our meds. This can sometimes be £200 per Hedgehog. If a general public was to take to the vets it would be free, But we are classed as their carer, but we are self funded. It's so frustrating, however our vets do help us as much as they can, and the hospital is a way of keeping the bills down.
However, we need the public's help to raise the money to be able to complete this task. The response so far is amazing.
So 2019 we had 217 hedgehogs through the Rescue. of them 47 needed vets treatment. Of the 217, 143 have been released, the rest are still with us. We have a great team of foster carers and they are all pretty much full at the moment. But again we could not function without the constant support.
