Barrels for Beryl Support the Caribbean post Hurricane Beryl
Donation protected
My name is Faith “Imani” McFarlane, founder of House of Tafari Inc./Tafari Wraps and a native of Jamaica.
On July 3, 2024 Hurricane Beryl wreaked havoc on the Caribbean and caused major damage to crops, livestock and homes of countless residents.
House of Tafari Inc./Tafari Wraps and Cross Cultural Collaborative, a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization that promotes cultural exchange and understanding, are joining forces with businesses, the Caribbean community, and supporters from Boston and surrounding Communities, to combat the devastating effect of hurricane Beryl.
We are putting in efforts and resources to raise funds to assist in restoring the livelihood of the residents of Jamaica, and Saint Vincent and The Grenadines.
All funds raised will be deposited into the Cross Cultural Collaborative’s bank account and monitored by both organizations.
Funds will be used to purchase:
.Non-perishable items
. Electrical supplies
.Packing, shipping, and storage of containers
. Shelter equipment
. Farming tools
. Seeds
. Travel and accommodation for on the ground distribution team
. Setting up distribution outlets
. Ground transportation for direct distribution to rural areas
. Team administration fee to execute and oversee the collection and distribution of all goods.
With at least a $5 donation from fifty thousand individuals and organizations, we will raise $250,000. However, this amount may increase based upon demands to fully pack three twenty-foot containers with non-perishable foods, electrical supplies, filtered water, generators, solar lamps, and other necessities. Additionally, we will accept in-kind donations of pallets of canned foods and other non-perishable products, as well as any other items needed.
We are also seeking donated space for collections, in four locations in and around the City of Boston.
Donations are tax deductible.
When the produce that was blown off the trees is consumed, it will take months for the farmers to get the necessary resources to replenish their crops and for mother earth to nourish the seeds to grow.
Time is of the essence! We are working within a eight week time frame to raise the funds, purchase supplies, and pack and ship the containers. We already have trusted teams in place to oversee direct distribution, especially to rural areas.
Please share this request with your contacts and thank you for your support and generosity!
