Today, I bring to your attention a story of resilience and the unyielding spirit of an individual facing unimaginable challenges. Rodney Ingersoll, the heart and soul behind the Barron River Barramundi Farm, has suffered a profound loss due to the recent cyclone Jasper Floods. We are reaching out to you, the community that cares, to join hands in helping Rodney and his family rebuild his life and the sustainable haven he created.
About Barron River Barramundi Farm: (https://barronriverbarra.com.au/)
Situated in the lush landscapes of Barron River, Rodney's farm is not just a fishery; it's a sanctuary of highly sustainable, carbon-neutral aquaculture, employing biodynamic farming practices. The farm is a shining example of humane and ethical fish farming, producing fresh Australian-grown organic fish.
The Devastating Loss:
The recent cyclone Jasper Floods have left Rodney's Barramundi Farm in ruins. Over 70,000 barramundi and 50,000 red claw—creations of sustainable aquaculture—have been lost. The floodwaters not only took away his stock but also drowned his living quarters, tools and machinery, equipment, fishponds, training and resources centre, cold rooms, storage facilities, farm pets, and personal items, leaving the operational business in shambles.
To compound the hardship, Rodney was denied insurance coverage for flooding.
With a substantial mortgage on the property and no income, Rodney risks losing more than just his farm. We urgently seek your support through this GoFundMe campaign to assist in re-establishing and rebuilding the Barron River Barramundi Farm and, by extension, Rodney's family life.
