Hi, my name is Sandy Gumm and Barry Bales and his wife Jenny have been friends of mine and our family since the early 90s when Barry played guitar on our stage show at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Barry is one of the most gifted guitar players and singers I've ever known and a well-loved personality in the musician scene around Nashville and Branson, MO. Recently, he started experiencing intense pain in his back, something not uncommon for someone who has played guitar as much as he has for over 40 years. It turned out to be more than just a sciatica problem but was discovered that Barry has cancer in some of his major organs and even his bones and spine. He had a biopsy on July 31st and will know the prognosis soon. Already his medical bills are stacking up and like many musicians, Barry has no medical insurance. I'm hoping we can all relieve some of the stress he and his family are under so they can focus on his health and not the lack of funds.
