Barry Hornstein Assisted Living Fund

Dear Family and Friends,

My initial story from about two years ago can be read below this update, which I am writing on March 4, 2023. Due to a few recent "wandering" incidents, Barry was moved into the memory care unit at Pacifica. He seems to be adapting well, but he is confused about why he was moved and is disheartened by not having the freedom to come and go that he had in assisted living. Memory care has placed an additional strain on our finances and my limited free time. On behalf of our family: Barry, Alec, Alejandra, and myself, we are grateful for your continued support to help assure that Barry is comfortable and safe. Initial Story:

I started this fund because our family is in a crisis. My father is suffering from cognitive impairment. He was recently moved into memory care after living in assisted living for about two years. Barry is not able to continue living independently. Barry poses a danger to himself and others due to his inability to make sound decisions and his problems with memory loss. He is in need of a residential assisted living facility that will provide him with supervision, care, and social activities.

Unfortunately, Barry is in debt and his income is limited to monthly social security benefits. I am attempting to raise sufficient funds to cover the cost of assisted living for two years when combined with Barry’s social security benefits. Barry is currently staying in the guesthouse of some family friends. He needs to move sometime in March. I hope to raise sufficient funds for him to enter an assisted living facility in March or April. Any support you provide will go directly to Barry’s living expenses. Your support will allow Barry to live safely and comfortably.
