Barry Remembers Memorial Benches
Donation protected
The town of Barry has a proud history of remembering and honouring its war dead. I hope to be able to raise enough funds to support the replacement of the three benches sited on the shelter roof at lower Gladstone Gardens with special commemorative seats. The benches portray silhouetted images made from steel from world conflicts along with poppies and the dove of peace (similar to the one pictured) and the benches would portray three different scenes. I hope they will be installed with the co-operation of the Barry Town Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council and the Royal British Legion.
These benches overlook Barry Memorial Hall and its Cenotaph and would make a fitting tribute to the fallen of Barry.
I am sure that the people of Barry will support this tribute even with the backdrop of the Covid 19 pandemic. If I am unable to raise enough funds for all three benches, I hope we will be able to replace one or two of the old benches. Alternatively, should there be surplus funds, then this would be donated to the Royal British Legion.
