Barry Ward liver transplant
Donation protected
Barry was diagnosed with PSC (primary sclerosing cholangitis - autoimmune) about 3 years ago. He's been on the liver transplant list at Houston Methodist for 2 years, but 6 months ago we were recommended to Ochsner. Last week he was accepted at Ocshner as a liver transplant patient and listed as #1 for his blood type. Long story short, but we relocated temporarily to NOLA to expedite the process. He received his transplant on 12/16/15 after being here for 2 days. We will be required to be here for another 4 to 6 weeks until he is released from the care of Ochsner. Please consider being an organ donor to save a life!
Barry had problems with his new liver and had a bad bacterial infection. He received his 2nd transplant 1/3/16.
1/12/16 Barry has had some complications and is back in ICU. They are trying to rule out infection, internal bleeding and rejection.
