Barwell FC 3G Pitch - For the Future

Donation protected
Barwell Football Club are launching a fundraising campaign to bring a 3G artificial pitch to the Kirkby Road Sports and Social Club complex and provide a facility for the community for years to come. The target is to raise £50,000 to add to the grants that have already been received. With support from our local MP and others we want you to be a part of providing something for the Barwell area for the future.

Barwell Football Club have continually been at the forefront of organised football in the area. The Club's home ground is at the Barwell Sports and Social Club complex which has been in existence for over 100 years and is firmly in the heart of the village.

Over the past year the Club has been working with the Leicestershire and Rutland FA and the Football Foundation to enhance the facilities in place. This means that the offering can be expanded to the wider community.

It is hoped to convert the current grass pitch to a floodlit 3G artificial pitch which will be used by not just Barwell FC but also by local junior football clubs, community groups, schools and individuals throughout Barwell and the surrounding area. In excess of 1000 people per week could benefit from this new facility. With the right level of support and funding this should all be in place in the summer of 2021.

Active fundraising has been taking place with grants applied for as well. The total cost of the project is around £700,000. It is hoped that a grant from the Football Foundation will be substantial but we are now trying to raise further funds through local people, past players and others who want to support this project.

Dave Laing, Chairman of Barwell FC, is keen to see this project happen: "A lot of hard work has gone in behind the scenes to get this idea to this stage. We are now in the final stages of putting the planning application together and applying for the grants we need. A strong showing of local support within the community would be brilliant and I thank anyone who chooses to donate."

We have the support of the local MP and the Leicestershire and Rutland FA, with local businesses offering support as well - now we need you.  Maybe you played for the club, maybe you have come down to watch, maybe you want to help the people of the Barwell area.  Whatever your reason we will appreciate your support - it is for the future.
