Bas is Conquering Europe One Step at a Time.

From April to June 2024, I will embark on a walk from Gibraltar House in London to Gibraltar itself- passing through France, Andorra and Spain on my own two feet (maybe some alternative transport in times of dire need).

The ultimate aim of the journey is a sociological experiment into the generosity of complete European strangers with two additional aims to discovery the natural history/ culinary prospects of these lands and to challenge myself in preparation for joining the British army as an Officer Cadet- Hopefully I pass Main Board just before and can attend Sandhurst pronto!

Ideally, I will start the journey with only minimal belongings but not excluding a brilliant 'wardrobe' of proper Adventurer's clothing and, very few funds-hoping to find food, shelter and potentially work through connections with the people I meet along the way. However, any funds I receive now will help enormously as a safety net and enabling us to see more of the country, eat more of the country and not be on the brink of survival- even if that is the most exciting factor of this expedition.

Funds will primarily be used for the ferry to Calais and the flight home from Gibraltar as well as the purchase of some initial equipment, trying local delicacies and providing that safety net should we require it. The journey itself is pretty clear cut to ourselves and I wish it to be as realistic and challenging as possible.

This may be my first proper inter- country adventure but with all y’alls help it will not be the last and we will have secured spots in some hallowed halls of expeditionary greatness!
