Changing the Game - Ryan Curl and Ronnie Dawson $10,000 Goal


Hi everyone – my name is Ryan Curl and I am the Director of Athletic Performance and a Baseball Instructor in Columbus, Ohio. If you know me already, then you know I’m passionate about the game and love developing players to help them reach their full potential, both on and off the field. My experiences with baseball have impacted my life in such positive ways, yet there were also challenges I faced as a young player, and still must navigate professionally, being in a sport that historically (and currently) has a very low percentage of Black players, coaches, and leaders. I want to be a part of a change for the athletes and coaches I have the opportunity to work with today.

 I am excited to share that I am co-founding a nonprofit with my partner, Ronnie Dawson, to just do that! We are ready to change the game for young players from underrepresented and under-resourced communities in the world of baseball. Our vision is to create equitable access to opportunities, provide cultural representation through mentorship, and improve the coaching culture in partnership with schools, teams, and baseball organizations in Central Ohio. We are still working through the logistics of forming a 501c3 organization but are ready to start making an impact now.

 That’s where you come in. We have partnered with a local Columbus City School, Northland High School, to help them revitalize their baseball program. This will be their first season since 2019, and with the impact of COVID and the dwindling team size due to awareness, interest, and resources, they need our help. We are raising funds for uniforms, field maintenance and equipment, including a hitting tunnel. We would be VERY appreciative of any support you can provide – whether that’s equipment, funds, or both, it will make a difference and mean so much to the players, coach, and school.
