BATISTA FAMILY FARM
The original Batista Bros. Dairy was established in 1956 by Joseph Batista and his brothers, Frank and Manuel, in Chino, California. Their families and their farm grew with love and a commitment to each other and to quality farming.
Then in 1973, urban sprawl and the 60 freeway bought up the dairies and surrounding properties; Joseph and his brothers went on to pursue other endeavors, but for Joe’s sons, the dairy life was always in their minds and hearts. Two sons in particular, who still remained in the Chino/Ontario area – Anton and Zachary Batista.
Anton and Zachary Batista are two of Joseph and Angeline Batista’s seventeen children, who lived and worked on the family dairy.
“The dairy life was amazing! Our family taught us about an impeccable work ethic and how to be good to your neighbors and to the environment.” – (Zach Batista, Managing Partner)
In December 2013, nearly 40 years to the date, Zach and Anton Batista decided it was time to continue the legacy of Batista Bros Dairy, and complete what they felt, and what their 89 year old father Joseph felt, has been “unfinished business;” a dream not yet fulfilled. That dream is to be the local family dairy that the community can rely on for the finest quality products from their home to yours.
The mission is to provide local communities with fresh, clean, and delicious milk and milk products. At Batista Family Farm, we believe strongly in nutrition, education and the humane treatment of animals to produce our all natural, organic goods.
Today at Batista Family Farm in Ontario, California, we still believe strongly in nutrition, education, and the humane treatment of animals to produce our all-natural, organic goods. My name is Mary Ernestine Frances Batista named for all four of my great-grandmothers (bisavós in Portuguese). I have three sisters and two brothers, all of whom have continued to enthusiastically contribute their time, talent, and treasure to realizing this dream.
Together, since 2013 our families have invested over $200,000 in this dream, and now we are coming up just short of being able to bottle our own milk and sell directly to stores and to you. Having our own creamery and being able to have community events at our farm brings joyful tears to my eyes first thinking about our grandparents, and how happy my Avô, Joseph Batista was, visiting and helping at the dairy. He passed away in 2017 at 93 years old. Having a farm again to work with his four generations of family helpers gave him the excitement and vitality of a man half his age! His smile and love of life and family was contagious!
He was featured with his two sons and their families in the 2016 Hoard’s Dairyman magazine, and the farm was also mentioned in the 2016 Dairy Council of California Spring Newsletter.
The Batista Family Farm partners with Cal Poly Pomona and their Department of Agriculture. We have had over 100 pre-veterinary interns from CPP, as our farm is a “living lab” for the students to excel in their higher learning.
My dad, uncle, brothers, and cousin have brought our beautiful animals for milking demonstrations and dairy science education at: Cal Poly Pomona’s Pumpkin Festival, Cal Poly Pomona’s Spring on the Farm, the L.A. County Fair, Chino Heritage Festivals, Paramount Heritage Festivals, elementary schools and high schools throughout the region, soon to be lab to Stanbridge University students, and the Kosher Jewish Community of West L.A.
When you contribute to this family farm you become part of this dream and you can come and see your donation put to use! We want to make our dairy farm and creamery open to the public to educate, entertain, and give the family farm a hands on experience to people of all ages.
The Batista Family Farm, featuring Cream Top Milk (non-homogenized), will be a remarkable destination for all who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and see a working dairy, and taste exceptionally delicious milk!
We are looking forward to hosting events, groups, tours, and you and yours here at Batista Family Farm!
Our Fundraising Goal to meet our operational costs is $50,000.
We thank you in advance for your kind attention and your generosity. Any donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated!
