Baton of Hope - Portsmouth

Hi, my name is Helen and I am fundraising on behalf of the Baton of Hope, Solent Mind and the UK Sepsis Trust. The charity Baton of Hope was created to raise awareness of suicide, and have a vision of a society where suicide prevention is openly and widely discussed. I will be one of the baton bearers in Portsmouth on 26th September, as I attempted suicide myself four years ago. As a result I developed sepsis, a condition where the immune system is overwhelmed by infection and attacks the body, leaving me with multi organ failure and a hypoxic brain injury. I was fortunate that I was in ITU and treated promptly. Awareness of sepsis and post sepsis syndrome varies greatly.

Solent Mind works with people who are experiencing mental health issues, and worked with me to help me understand how my mental health could be improved; to understand and make sense of my thoughts and feelings, and CBT, to help me resolve my issues.
