Hello, my name is Teyonda Ivy. I am the mother of 3 beautiful children, but I’m specifically here for my son, Teyon, who was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal “C WORD” (We’re not giving it life) on 10/1/2024.

Teyon Brewer is a 19-year-old kid from Taft, Oklahoma. He attended Muskogee Public Schools from Pre-K until he graduated from Muskogee High School in May 2024. He developed a passion for football and began playing in the Paul Young Football League in the 2nd grade. Once he reached Jr. High, he played for Muskogee Public Schools and later on became a starter as a freshman on the varsity team. Teyon started all 4 years of his HS career and was a part of the Championship team in December 2023, where he assisted with the stop of a 2-point conversion attempt to seal the deal!!!!

Teyon accepted a full scholarship in football at Missouri Western State University. He departed for school on July 7th, 2024, and soon started adjusting to his new reality when things took a turn for the worse. Just shy of his 19th birthday (9/19/05), he started having really bad diarrhea and vomiting daily. We initially thought it was just a flu bug and got him some over-the-counter meds. The diarrhea and vomiting progressively got worse, and he started seeing blood from both ends, so his father and I drove to Missouri and took him to an urgent care. The urgent care said it was a kidney stone, but we knew that didn’t explain the blood in his stool. Teyon informed the football team's doctor of his ongoing issue, and they took him to the ER where he was admitted on 09/27.

The doctors were at their wits' end trying to figure out what was causing this issue. On 10/01/24, they decided to go in with a scope, and that’s when they found the tumor in his colon/rectum and took some biopsies to confirm the C Word. On 10/5/24, he was discharged from Missouri to be transported to OU in Oklahoma City for a second opinion, which they confirmed his diagnosis on 10/8/24.

Teyon started chemotherapy on 10/22/24 . Shattered at those words (as any loving parent should be) to say the least. BUT GOD!!!! The mere thought of what he has on the other side of this gives me chills, and WE ALL can’t wait to hear his testimony. My “SonLight” has not lost that infectious smile in the midst of his valley. Everything has happened so fast, and we’re so grateful for our community in Muskogee for the love during such a hardship. We’re confident that “Troubles Don’t Last Always.” We’re just waiting on his “Praise Report.” #BattleWithTeyon Any donations, words of affirmation, and PRAYERS are greatly appreciated!!!!
