Battling Endometrial Cancer

Donation protected
IIn 2013 my mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer. A month later, she had surgery to have her uterus removed. The month after that she had to have a second surgery to remove her ovaries and lymph nodes. After that we received good news, they didn’t find cancer in any other part of her body. Unfortunately, two years later the cancer came back in the form of a small lesion in the right upper side of her vaginal cuff. After seeing 2 gynecological oncologists, and a radiation oncologist; it was decided that radiation therapy would be the best treatment. After the radiation, we received good news for the second time. My mom had beat cancer twice! Unfortunately two years later , we received news of her “ second reoccurrence”. My mom was then diagnosed with endometrial cancer. This time, her oncologist referred her to university of Miami for a surgical procedure called “Pelvic exenteration ”. That would mean surgically removing your vagina, bladder, and /or rectum and creating a colostomy and urostomy. Knowing that this would completely change her way of life we decided to try a different method. Her oncologist started her on an oral medication for almost two years, and it made no difference. She has had three different treatments at University of Miami Hospital in Florida. Oral chemo, intravenous chemo and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer hasn’t been destroyed. On her last treatment of immunotherapy, she didn’t response well and had to be hospitalized, and the treatment was stopped. The doctors repeated a pet scan to evaluate response to treatment, tumor size, and cancer activity in any other parts of the body. The tumor is still there, and that there is cancer activity in the lungs and liver. We were told that neither UM or Florida have any other treatments to offer that would cure the cancer. However, we were advised to look for other options in other cancer centers outside of Florida. We are currently in the process of reaching out to multiple cancer centers across the country. We are trying to get my mom into new clinical trials and looking into as alternative medicine options. Unfortunately, travel expenses and alternative treatments aren’t covered by her insurance. I’m reaching out to friends, family, and loved ones to ask for your help. Anyone who knows my mom can vouch for me when I say that if anyone deserves a fighting chance it’s my mom. She is my rock, my motivation to be better and my best friend. Despite being sick for the past years she always has a smile on her face and spreads positivity wherever she goes. We always have faith that it will be okay and anything helps. I ask that if you can’t help financially that you help with prayers. God bless all of you!
