Battling Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC)

Donation protected
This year for my birthday, I would like you to consider donating to my nearest, dearest, oldest, and closest friend. This is Megan – she has the kindest heart of anyone that I have ever known. My children have known her since they were born and love her as she could be their Aunt.

Megan was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, called Primary Biliary Cirrohsis in 2005. In primary biliary cirrhosis, the immune system attacks the small bile ducts in the liver. Megan has been able to manage her condition with medications up until 2013. Since then her liver functions started to deteriorate causing her to become increasingly uncomfortable and ill. Megan’s  PBC reached a level in which a liver transplant is necessary. Luckily in June of 2015, Megan was blessed with a liver transplant. A woman in her 20’s lost her life and was able to give Megan hers back.
It truly was a miracle.

In 2016, Megan, myself, and friends took a Holiday to England to visit other friends. Unfortunately, Megan’s body recognizes the new liver as foreign and her body has been attacking the transplant liver.

As Megan rises on the donor list, insurance details have been crossed. The insurance company was trying to charge her $700 a month – which is unaffordable for Megan. Without insurance, Megan was dropped from the donor list. FINALLY, her insurance has been straightened out and she will be added back to the list April 15, 2019! On March 28th, Megan was readmitted to Jefferson University Hospital through the emergency room with another infection. The financial burden continues to build as we continue to pray for Megan to find a match. To receive a transplant, you must be financially secure to pay for your medicines after the surgery or they will not pick you as a recipient.

For my birthday this year, I would like to secure my friend for longer in my life. I would like to try and alleviate stress and financial worries as she focuses on her health and getting better. To know Megan, is to absolutely love her. There is no one out there with a bigger heart. So please consider opening your heart (and wallet) and donate what you can. Everything helps. I would be eternally grateful

100% contributions will go towards the cost of a transplant surgery, medical expenses, medicines, as well as the cost of living during recovery are immense. Megan and her family have been so strong, hopeful, and full of faith. We all want to ensure that Megan can live a long and healthy life!

Thank you,
