Help fund Paytons medication

Hello My name is Kristina, I'm fundraising for a family friend and her daughter who has Chronic Asthma. Her name is Payton, she is 6 years old, her family lives in Milverton Ontario. The family take in exchange students every year to give them the best possible family experience being away from thier own families while they are here to get an education. Sheila and Adrian would go out of thier way for anyone, especially within thier community. They have overcome so many obstacles with this pandemic especially funding cuts. They were recently told that the medication Nucala for Paytons Chronic Asthma is not covered anymore. The costs are 15 000 to 20 000 per year. She needs the shot monthly. This is on top of medications not covered for her extreme case of Exzema. She desperately needs this medication! She is already on 2 different inhalers 2 different pill forms of medication and she is currently having nebulizer treatments at home a couple times a week.

It was covered but only for a short time. She has been hospitalized numerous times, and in out of Emerg and this is the only medication that gives her a chance to live a normal healthy life. She didn't ask to be sick and the costs of her medication are financially stressing on thier family of 8. Any little bit helps to lesson the cost for Sheila and Adrian. They have contacted thier MP about options but until they can find funding the costs are more then they can afford. This could take years to finally get funded again.

My daughter Payton who is now 6 has suffered from Chronic Asthma most of her life. We have had numerous trips to emerg, numerous hospital stays and has been on numerous different medications to try to find the right one for her to be able to enjoy life and not always be short of breath.

Last year she was on a medication called Nucala. She would receive a shot of it once a month. Her emerg trips and her hospital stays became alot less because of this shot.

We have just been notified from her allergist that the company will no longer cover the cost of her shot.

For a year supply of this medication would cost our family any where from 15 to 20 thousand dollars.

Our allergist has asked me to get in contact with our local MPP and to see if they can make a change and help get these medications covered thru the government for not only Payton but also for other families that don't have benefits and that are in need of these medications.

Let's help all these children and families that need these special Medications whether it be for asthma or cancer or any other illness that requires these expensive medications to make our children healthier and able to enjoy life better.
