Bay Ridge Community Cats 99th Street Cats Campaign

Bay Ridge Community Cats is a group of local volunteers who practice TNR (trap/neuter/return) of free roaming cats in our neighborhood. We were alerted to an extreme situation on 99th Street in Bay Ridge and we are taking action!
There are upwards of 30 unaltered cats and kittens in this one location.
Our goal is to have all of the cats spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP, ear tipped and returned to their block where they will no longer reproduce and have caretakers waiting in the wings to care for them.
When cats are TNR’d the once very stressful situation for both residents and cats instantly gets better! Male cats stop “spraying “ their territory (stinky smells be gone) stop fighting each other for the attention of the female cats (no yowling, startling screams in the night!) Female cats stop reproducing (no more kittens!)
This is a grassroots project that has many local volunteers willing to put in the time and effort to make this situation better for everyone! All we need is the money to make it possible, every dollar is a dollar closer to our goal. Our project is up and running and will hopefully come to fruition by mid August!
We have a Mobil spay/neuter truck coming from The Toby Project to the location in August for their surgery. Before the truck arrives we will be trapping and caring for the cats. The care that goes in consists of feeding the cats, keeping their traps clean and creating a calm experience for them before their surgery. Besides trapping this is the biggest part of a mass TNR project!
The truck will be able to take 20 cats max at a cost of $23.00 per cat. There will be more cats that cannot fit on the truck and these cats will be brought to a local vet who charges $60.00 per cat. Included in the asking amount is money for food to feed them before and after surgery.
And the the greatest part, if you sponsor the surgery of one cat, we will name it after you!!!
We know that this location is one of many in the neighborhood that needs help and will be planning further projects for other areas in our beautiful Bay Ridge..
