On April 28, our beloved mom, age 51, was tragically taken from us after her battle with Covid-19. We are heartbroken and devastated.
Alicia leaves behind her husband, 5 children and 2 grandchildren.
Alicia Lopez was a selfless, hard worker who was always helping those in need. She worked tirelessly for IMPACT in Silver Spring, MD, a non-profit community organization. She went door to door delivering meals to neighbors in need and building community among families in need. Helping others was always her number one priority.
Our mother had become the sole provider of the family after her son (our brother) lost his job due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We also lost the income and support from our father after he suffered a debilitating stroke in September 2019. He is currently rehabilitating in a nursing facility where we have been unable to visit him due to restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic. We have decided not to notify him of his wife’s death for fear that his condition will regress.
As a result of this sudden tragedy and heartbreak, our family has no incoming money. We need any support that our community, friends and family can provide. We ask for support for our family to meet our day to day needs. We ask for support for burial expenses. We ask for support for my younger sister, Diana, whose last few months as a high school senior have been disrupted by the pandemic. She will soon be a graduate from Montgomery Blair High School and will be preparing to attend college in the Fall. We want to provide support for her as she prepares for her next big step. We also ask for support for our younger brother, Josue, who has worked diligently to successfully complete his second year of high school, also at Blair.
Please help however you can, so we can move forward with our lives and honor our dear mother’s memory. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Veronica Duran is our cousins and dear niece of my mom Alicia, she has help us thru this hard time making arrangement for the funeral and burial as well with every decision needed to be made along with all my siblings and family members, Veronica will pay off all credit cards expenses that were done for my mother burial and also help us manage the funds and make monthly rent payments for the apartment my siblings stay and provide food, clothing my siblings.

Veronica Duran
